Sheriff's Department Icy road conditions still giving Putnam County motorist's headaches. John Pyle, Carmi, Ill., was traveling west on U.S. 40 at 6:03 p.m. Monday, when he swerved to miss an object in the roadway. Several witnesses advised Pyle appeared to be swerving to miss something. Town makes last tower payment
