Gibson, Bryan to play in North/South Classic Friday

After displaying their talents three weeks ago during the Wabash Valley Football Coaches Association (WVFCA), South Putnam's Rob Gibson and North Putnam's Nate Bryan will take to the field again this Friday. Gibson and Bryan will play for the South squad in the 2012 Grange Insurance North/South All-Star Classic at North Central High School. An observant neighbor spotting smoke Tuesday night may have helped prevent a full-blown house fire at 319 Gillespie St. on Greencastle's northwest side. Greencastle Fire Department firefighters responded at 8:44 p.m., finding smoke coming from the attic of the small frame home. Firefighters entered the attic to remove blown-in insulation (via the blue tarp) in order to access smoldering areas. Fire officials were on the scene past 10 p.m., assessing the situation, which provided more smoke than fire. No damage estimate was available.

A visitor to Clinton Falls during this summer's drought will find a sad sight, as the falls has completely stopped running. Many nearby residents say they do not remember the local landmark coming to a complete stop as it has now. The possibility of storms later this week appears to be the best chance Putnam County has had for significant rainfall in well over a month.
