UPDATED: Greencastle to compete in WIC in '24-25 season bar football

After being voted out of the Western Indiana Conference a month ago, most Greencastle athletic teams will compete in the conference next year bar football. In a statement posted to ‘The Tigers Den’ Facebook page, Greencastle football head coach Dave Stephens relayed the message that, following a pair of meetings between administrators from the school and the members of the WIC, the Tiger Cubs will not be forced to spend the 2024-25 school year as an athletic independent ahead of joining a new athletic conference in the 2025-26 school year.. ...

Just like baseball is more than hits, runs and errors, the City of Greencastle election is more than a numbers game. There were a variety of intriguing circumstances at work Tuesday and leading up to the general election that produced only a disappointing 26.7 percent turnout with 1,561 people casting votes in the city. Approximately 15 acres of a cornfield between Greencastle and Stilesville is charred after it caught fire Monday afternoon. Mobilizing its brush truck and also its two engines for water supply, the Greencastle Fire Department assisted Fillmore volunteers with extinguishing the fire. High winds this week led to numerous responses for such fires in the area.

4-H offers $100 enrollment incentive

The 4-H enrollment has been open since Oct. 1 and will continue to be open well into next year. Individuals should enroll no later than Jan. 15, since project options begin to close and many clubs are moving forward with meetings at that time.
