She was born in Janesville, Wis., on Feb. 1, 1940 to John and Helen “Upham” Scidmore. Cindy married the love of her life, John Hackworthy, in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 5, 1964. She graduated from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wis., and worked as a social worker in Chicago until starting her most rewarding career of raising her family...
