Juanita Mae (Hall) Mayfield

Juanita Mae (Hall) Mayfield, 84, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Juanita was born on Aug. 18, 1939 in Roachdale, the daughter of John and Lavina (Morgan) Hall.

She graduated from Clayton High School with the class of 1957.

She married Bobbie Mayfield in 1967. He preceded her in death in 2014.

She worked as a paraprofessional at Inverness Middle School and South Putnam High School, where she also worked as a teacher aide in the special education department. Much of her career was spent working for Goodwill, where she began working as a volunteer and retired as the store manager.

When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales and flea markets. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and Elvis fan. Above all, Juanita loved her family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ricky Ward; her daughter, Carol Ann Mayfield; siblings John Hall Jr., Jackie Dean Hall, Jo Ann Hoffa, Janet Karr and Jeffrey Hall; and great-grandson John Robert Pasalich Jr.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Todd (Rick), Rebecca “Becky” McKinney (Kyle), Randy Ward, Richelle Herr-Smith (Mike), Regina Dierckman (Louie), Debbie Clifford, Larry Mayfield (Patti), Peggy Hannum and Bruce Ward (Cristina); daughter-in-law Lisa Ward; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; siblings Jenny Buchanan (Bennie), Johnnie Dale Hall (Barbara) and Jerrie Sue Huffman; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Tuesday, July 2 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Clayton Cemetery.
