County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 3:58 p.m. Jerry A. Williams, 48, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail on two counts of receiving stolen property.

• At 4:38 a.m. Jeremy W. Kilgore, 46, Spencer, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Saturday

• At 10:03 p.m. Michael S. Witt, 45, Centerpoint, was housed at the jail for public intoxication.

Friday

• At 12:31 a.m. Mark F. Smith, 67, Tower Hill, Ill., was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 12:29 a.m. Heidi G. Smith, 65, Tower Hill, Ill., was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

City Fire

Greencastle firefighters responded to the following recent dispatches.

• At 10:18 a.m. on Monday, firefighters investigated a fire alarm at 904 S. College Ave. They discovered the alarm company was working on the system and returned to service at 10:27 a.m.

• At 7:47 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3197 S. U.S. 231. Crews assisted with patients and cleaned debris from the road, returning to service at 9:02 a.m.

• At 2:18 a.m. on Monday, crews investigated an alarm at 505 S. Jackson St. Upon investigation, they could not determine what activated the system. They returned to service at 2:58 a.m.

• At 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters investigated a fire alarm at 904 S. College Ave. They investigated and could not determine a cause, returning to service at 4:31 p.m.

• At 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, GFD investigated an alarm at 500 S. Jackson St. Firefighters determined that the alarm was activated due to cooking. They reset the alarm and returned to service at 9:43 p.m.

• At 7:22 p.m. on Saturday, crews responded to an alarm at 109 W. Hanna St. Investigation revealed it was due to cooking. They returned to service at 7:31 p.m.

• At 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters investigated an alarm at 208 E. Olive St. They were not able to determine a cause and returned to service at 5:17 p.m.

• At 8:09 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. Upon investigation, they determined the system was activated due to a broken detector. Firefighters contacted DePauw University maintenance, reset the alarm and returned to service at 8:23 a.m.

GFD also responded to seven medical runs and was once disregarded while en route to a call.
