Annalee Asbell passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Pike County, Ind., on Dec. 21, 1935 to Howard and Inez (Chanley) Selby.

Annie was the third of nine children: Ruth, Onal, Kenny, Maxine, Linda, Patty, Marilyn and Sandy.

She and her husband Richard were married in 1958 and moved to Greencastle in 1959, when he worked for Maynard Johnson as a new barber.

She worked for Prevo's as a seamstress while her children were young, and then started working at First Citizens Bank in 1973 until her retirement in 2012.

Anyone who knew Annie, knew how much she loved bingo, Elvis, any sports (especially IU basketball), her children and grandchildren.

Her friends and family will always remember her sweet smile, contagious laugh, generous personality and her zest for life.

If people were having a party or potluck dinner, it was always Annie's food that stood out. She was an amazing cook.

Annie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard; children Terri (Gary) Haussin, Cindy (John) Hendrich, JD (Candace) Asbell, Phillip (Katherine) Asbell and Patrick Asbell (Lori); her grandchildren, Kristin Hendrich, DJ Hendrich (Alison), Mathew Hendrich, Bradley (Rayleigh) Haussin, Lindsey (Mike) Foreman, Alexander Asbell, Donovan Asbell, Mary Katherine Asbell, Quinn Asbell, Britton (Sarah) Asbell, Brant Asbell, Blayne Asbell, Blythe Asbell, Mackensy Asbell and Madison Asbell, and two great-grandchildren, Indiana Asbell and Corliss Asbell.

She is a great loss to the Asbell family and to the community of Greencastle. We will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 4-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Annie's memory to the donor's favorite charity.
