Monday, January 4, 2021

Sylvia “Sue” Goldsberry, 76, passed away Dec. 7, 2020 in the presence of her children.

Sue was born in Greencastle on Sept. 12, 1944 to Myrdell and Frank York, while Frank was a prisoner of war in Germany.

She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1962.

She loved bowling, golfing and was a good equestrian. She loved taking pictures of her family and nature.

Sue married the love of her life, Gary Goldsberry, who predeceased her in July of 2020.

Because of Gary’s passion for flying, Sue became deeply involved with aviation too (helicopters and gyros). She wrote and published the PRA monthly newsletter and enjoyed the fly-in meets all over the country as well as with their local PRA club Chapter 34 in Greencastle.

Her dedication to her church, Crossland Baptist Church in Stillesville, was evident to all who knew her and the joy she received being apart of that church family. Her prayer list was long.

Sue is survived by her brothers, Ron and Jon York, and by her four children, Brent, Mike and Joe Alexander and Janie Baschwit as well as Gary’s children, Lynn Goldsberry and Shelly Romero, along with multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 2-6 p.m. in Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.

Condolences may be sent to www.carlislebranson.com.

Contributions may be made to the Crossland Baptist Church in Sue’s name.
