Richard Jerome Gick

Richard Jerome Gick, 83, of Fillmore, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

He was born June 9, 1938, in Ambia, Ind., the son of Herman Peter Gick and Iveden Leona (Greenburg) Gick.

Richard farmed for nearly 60 years, most of that time for the Cooprider-Lantrip family east of Fillmore.

Family and friends were especially important to Richard. He had an extensive circle of friends, particularly in the farming community.

He had special relationships with his sister-in-law, Inge (Maschewski) Gick, and cousin, Carol Greenburg, and is survived by both.

He had a particularly close relationship with his nieces and nephews and is survived by most of them, including Shirlee (Dale) Roahrig, Phil (Susan) Gick, Cindy Calabrese, Charlene (Ron) Dowell, Veronica (Joe) Rishkofski, Warnie (Wendy) Gick, Jr., James Cornett and Michelle (Brad) Carnes and a host of grandnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and nine siblings, Virginia Gick, Lawrence Gick, Edgar “Pete” Gick, Ethel Matwyuk, Vincent Gick, Dale Gick, Joyce Cornett, Lillian “Von” Risk and Warnie Gick.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 8 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to St. Paul’s Catholic Church Lady’s Guild Endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation.
