Monday, February 27, 2023

William E. Kehrer, of Winona Lake and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 at the age of 81.

Known to most as Bill, he was born in Indianapolis on July 7, 1941, the son of Albert and Hazel Kehrer (Knauer).

After high school, he joined the United States Army professionally, Bill worked at General Motors for over 35 years as a tool and die inspector before his retirement. In 1966, he married Patricia Lockamy. The two spent their lives raising their two daughters, Rebecca and Sara.

As the outgoing person that Bill was, he never forgot a name or face, no matter when he met the person. He and Pat were very active in their home church. He loved singing in the choir and performing solos when he was younger. The two also enjoyed traveling the world together, with their favorite place to travel being Scotland. Bill dreamed of one day living there. When relaxing at home, he spent his time gardening, doing yardwork, and watching western movies.

Along with his wife of 56 years, Patricia, those who survive with his memories to cherish include his two daughters, Rebecca (Tom) Haney and Sara Kehrer; grandchildren, Grant, Garrett and Grason Haney and Olivia Brumley; and his beloved cat, Archie.

He is preceded in passing by his parents; sister Sandra Aker; and brothers Ron and Richard Kehrer.

Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the care of Bill. Friends may join his family for a graveside service at Brick Chapel Cemetery in Greencastle on Friday, March 3 beginning at 11 a.m. A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 3860 E. Main St., Danville, after the service.
