Geraldine Grace Barcus

Geraldine Grace Barcus, 97, of Florida, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023.

She was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Fillmore, the daughter of Glen Hayes and Grace (Morgan) Morehart.

She was a graduate of Fillmore High School in the class of 1944.

She married Ralph Harvey Barcus on June 30, 1946, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2013.

Geraldine was a bookkeeper at Prevo’s for several years.

She was a member of the Fillmore Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and attended First Baptist Church in Greencastle prior to moving to Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and son-in-law James New.

Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Bernie) Cripe of Frankfort and Carolyn New (Rick) Stock of Lake Helen, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jane Morris; sister-in-law Phyllis Shoemaker; five grandchildren, Lisa (Cliff) Hornback, Tammara (Brian) Prager, Carrie (Brad) Miller, Natalie (Addison) Ladiero and Mary Mariah New; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral with Eastern Star services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
