Monday, May 13, 2024

Charles V. “Charley” Riggle, 68, of Roachdale, went to his heavenly home on May 10, 2024.

Charley was born on Aug. 2, 1955, in Crawfordsville to the late Richard “Buck” and Mary (Ford) Riggle.

He married his best friend, Phyllis Reynolds, on July 27, 1974, and they shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Charley was a 1973 graduate of North Putnam High School and then went on to attend Purdue University.

During his career he worked at R.R. Donnelley, Riggle Repair, Riggle Carpet and the United States Post Office, and then he purchased Roachdale Hardware, which he owned and operated for 27 years until retiring in 2019.

He was a longtime member of Roachdale Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and treasurer.

Charley loved the town of Roachdale and was eager to help his many friends and neighbors. His family was the most important thing to him, and they loved spending time together. Charley and Phyllis cherished their annual trips to Michigan. He loved to be outside in his garden and manning the grill. He had a love of history and antiques, especially Cities Service memorabilia. He was an all-around wonderful man and left a beautiful legacy for his family and friends.
