Thursday, May 16, 2024

Marcelene Anne Sambrotta, 58, of Terre Haute, died on May 10, 2024 after a three-year battle with heart, lung and kidney failure. She fought this never complaining.

Anne was born on Aug. 5, 1965 in Putnam County, the daughter of Ronald Miller and Sara Bridges.

She graduated from North Putnam High School with the class of 1984.

She was a person of great faith who cared deeply for her family and friends. In her earlier years she worked in nursing homes, sharing her love with the patients there. In her youth she was enrolled in 4-H and hated sewing, but loved showing cattle that her stepdad, Jerry, raised.

She loved the peaceful sounds of wind chimes and was an avid collector of light houses. She was a guiding light for so many needy people. She loved her pets and especially her most recent one, Violet, her therapy dog who would visit her when she was in a nursing home or the hospital.

Anne came into her family at five months of age as a foster child and was absolutely adored and loved by all of her family. Two years later, she was allowed to be adopted. Grandma and Grandpa Bridges never let a day go by without checking on her. Her granddad kept a diary that noted each visit and how much she was loved and spoiled.

Anne was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Marcella Bridges; paternal grandparents Willard and Dorothea Miller; husband James Sambrotta; granddaughter Selah Rene; brother Mitchell Miller; and her stepdad, Jerry Malayer.

Anne is survived by her mother, Sara Bridges; children Christopher Sambrotta and Victoria Stevens (Kyle); grandchildren Slayton Patrick and Alexander Joseph; siblings Mike Miller (Melissa), Mark Miller (Shelissa), Jerry Rhea Malayer (Cindy) and Brad Malayer (Shelley); as well as many extended family members.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 19 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Lawson Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, IN 47834, followed by services at 3 p.m.
