Pamela Rose Baker, 74, of Plainfield, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1949, in Indianapolis, to the late Forrest J. Baugh and Lottie A. Baugh Mesling.

Pam was sassy, stubborn and very independent. If you knew Pam, you loved her; she never met a stranger.

Pam was the owner of Plainfield Accounting Service, which she opened on March 1, 1988.

She was a beloved member of the Plainfield community. She greatly enjoyed working with her clients and sharpening her pencil to advocate on their behalf. For the past 11 years, she was also the CFO/business manager for Shapiro’s Delicatessen.

Pam truly loved helping others and was a constant learner. She enjoyed collecting gadgets, especially those for the kitchen. She loved traveling and meeting new people. Pam often went to the Pacific Northwest to visit family and had fun touring all the different lighthouses or just sipping a cocktail on the beach.

She also had a creative side and fancied doing floral and balloon designs, along with other crafty activities. She was an avid Amazon shopper; her family jokes she kept them in business. She enjoyed trying to win at purse bingo with her daughter and girlfriends. Pam also loved racing of all kinds, especially supporting one of her favorite racing teams, Vermillion Racing. Pam had a passion for cooking; she always had a seat for anyone at her table, and she made sure everyone was welcomed and well fed. Holiday meals and spending time together were always special to her and her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Leaver (Mike Hamilton); sons Todd Ploughe (Nicki Dawson), Brian Baker (Theresa Smith) and Brent (Heather) Baker; and grandchildren Stephanie Leaver, Cory Leaver and T.J. Ploughe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Philip Ploughe.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22 from 4-8 p.m. in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown.
