Lieber pool to open this weekend

CLOVERDALE — With the unofficial start of summer upon us and warm temperatures projected to continue, swimming areas will be open at many Department of Natural Resources properties this weekend.

Locally, the pool at Lieber State Recreation Area near Cloverdale will open on Saturday, May 25, allowing swimmers to enjoy it for the entirety of Memorial Day weekend.

Swimming will not be available at Cagle’s Mill Lake inside Lieber due to high water levels.

Nearby, the public pool at Turkey Run State Park in Parke County will open on Monday, May 27, while the public pool at McCormick’s Creek State Park near Spencer will not open until Friday, May 31.

Additionally, the beach at Cecil M. Harden Lake (Raccoon State Recreation Area) will be open with no lifeguards.

Beaches generally remain open through Labor Day. Public pools generally are open through early to mid-August, depending on the availability of lifeguards as they return to school.
