LIMEDALE — A brief standoff ended peacefully Wednesday afternoon south of Greencastle.

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to a family-involved domestic incident in Limedale around 3 p.m.

Reports of gunfire had not been confirmed as of midday Thursday.

While the suspect was briefly barricaded in the home upon the arrival of police, the PCSO negotiator was able to talk him out of the home, and he was detained.

The male subject was not arrested, but was held on an emergency detention order and was receiving psychiatric services.

Deputies then obtained and served a search warrant and removed guns from the home.

A report is being turned over to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.

  • if someone is not of sound mind they should NOT have a gun! if you live with someone who is not of sound mind then it is your duty to protect yourself and others by reporting them if they ever threaten a life.
