County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 7:33 a.m. Mark A. Boehm, 46, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 4:05 a.m. Craig A. Cox, 33, Brazil, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 2:24 a.m. Kerry W. Gilbert, 43, Martinsville, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 8:38 a.m. Jacob E. Williams, 28, Greencastle, was booked in for failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

• At 1:18 a.m. Garrett W.L. Craig, 33, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for auto theft, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Monday

• At 8:05 p.m. David R. Carson, 31, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 1:59 p.m. Matthew D. Wieczorek, 32, Reelsville, was housed at the jail for violation of home detention.

• At 11:58 a.m. Charles P. Cooper, 36, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported six incidents between Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon:

• At 5:57 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 675 S. Fillmore Rd. for an unauthorized burn. Firefighters arrived at 6:10 a.m. and extinguished a small campfire. GFD went back into service at 6:26 a.m.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Druley House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:59 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:05 p.m.

• At 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 620 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:29 and determined the alarm activated when the power came back on after an outage. The building was investigated and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:42 a.m.

• At 3:27 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Oliver House at DePauw as the alarm panel was beeping, but the system itself was not activated. Firefighters arrived at 3:30 and determined there was an issue with the panel, after which maintenance was contacted. GFD went back into service at 3:46 a.m.

• At 2:36 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was requested by law enforcement to stage near County Road 150 West. Firefighters arrived at 2:39 and did so until the standoff was resolved. GFD went back into service at 3:12 p.m.

• At 2:58 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched for a vehicle fire at 727 Main St. Firefighters arrived at 3:03 p.m. as the fire was in the engine compartment. The fire was quickly extinguished, after which a wrecker was contacted. GFD went back into service at 3:33 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for seven medical assists and one disregard during this timeframe.
