An online resource for geography and travel has recognized Greencastle as one of the most scenic small towns in the state.

Published this week via WorldAtlas, the article “7 Most Scenic Small Towns In Indiana” notes that small towns in the state “are scenic like their city counterparts, offering plenty of picturesque sights and attractions to travelers.”

The entry on the Putnam County seat notes the convenient location of the city, within an hour of Indianapolis, Lafayette, Bloomington and Terre Haute, as well as the proximity of Cataract Falls and Lieber State Recreation Area. It continues with more recreation opportunities.

“The area is a great venue for hiking, boating, fishing and picnicking,” the article notes. “Continue to explore the scenic sights of this Indiana town at the DePauw University Nature Park, which covers over 520 acres on the west side of the DePauw campus.”

The town’s artistic side, local culture and DePauw University are also highlighted, before making note of the largest mural in the state on the S&W Feed Center silos along Veteran’s Memorial Highway.

The article, which also highlights nearby Rockville as well as Franklin, Albion, Spring Grove, Corydon and Chesterton, is available at www.worldatlas.com/cities/7-most-scenic-small-towns-in-indiana.html.
