Tiger Cubs finish third, advance to Lafayette Jeff Regional

Greencastle shot 330 Monday at Foxcliff CC, finishing third at the IHSAA Boys’ Golf Martinsville Sectional and advanced to Friday’s Lafayette Jeff Regional. They will be joined by Cloverdale’s Eli Kelley, who will be making a return trip to the regional after shooting 81 to qualify as an individual.

MARTINSVILLE — Greencastle shot 330 to finish third at the IHSAA Boys’ Golf Martinsville Sectional, advancing to Friday’s Lafayette Jeff Regional.

Bryson Worman shot 76 to lead the Tiger Cubs with Dylan Barcus turning in a round of 81, Ben Zellers shooting 85 and Zane Huber carding a 88 to round out the team score with Cooper Grable shooting 104.

"I'm really proud of the way the team pulled together to make it to regionals," Greencastle head coach Rob Worman said. "This is a tough sectional with some big schools and some great golfers.

"Our goal this year was to get out of sectionals and I'm so excited that the team accomplished this."

Plainfield won the sectional at Foxcliff CC with a 303 while Brownsburg was second on 311.

Cloverdale finished sixth with a round of 344, tied with Mooresville but losing out on the fifth-score tiebreaker, with Eli Kelley advancing as an individual after a round of 81. Houston Jobe shot 85 with Noah Betz carding an 88 and Zach Thomas shooting 90. Carson Caulkins added a round of 100.

South Putnam finished 11th overall, led by Aiden Brinkman’s 108. Ryan Rumley shot 113 while Max Richardson and Parker Harris both turned in rounds of 120. Abe Doughty added a 135.

North Putnam competed in the Attica Sectional on Friday, finishing 11th overall, led by a round of 102 by Jayden Mayo. Brody Braeger shot 106 while Gavin Simonson carded a 118, Drew Nesbitt shot 124 and Chase Abdon turned in a round of 128.
