'Something Rotten' auditions set at PCPH
Director Vickie Parker will have two sessions of auditions for the musical “Something Rotten.”
The first will be Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m. The second will be Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m.
Both will be at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre, home of the Putnam County Playhouse.
The musical will be onstage Aug. 15-17 and 21-24. It is being sponsored by Bittles & Hirt and Hopkins-Rector.
Roles available include Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who run a small theater company in Elizabethan England; William Shakespeare, the rock star-like king of the local scene; Bea, Nick’s wife; Portia, a young Puritan woman who falls in love with Nigel; Nostradamus, a soothsayer who helps the brothers invent musical theater; Brother Jeremiah, Portia’s father who hates all things theater; and a large ensemble that will also play multiple roles.
Those who audition will be asked to sing 16 bars of a song and read from the script. A short dance audition may also be conducted.
