County Jail

Fourteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 5:47 p.m. Tyler L. Witt, 22, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for criminal mischief.

• At 3:21 p.m. Hunter J. Squires, 18, Tangier, was taken into custody on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 1:10 p.m. Charles A. Dwigans, 65, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for failure to appear.

Tuesday

• At 12:41 p.m. Amber M. Volz, 37, Danville, was booked in for sexual misconduct and official misconduct.

• At 10:17 a.m. Donald R. Evans, 41, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 4:24 a.m. Laschel S. Byrd, 45, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 4:03 a.m. Bambi L. Bicknell, 51, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:06 a.m. Macey R. Richardson, 21, Fillmore, was booked in on four local warrants.

Monday

• At 9:48 p.m. Adrian B. Fisher, 33, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for driving as a habitual traffic offender, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

• At 3:17 p.m. Charles P. Cooper, 36, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 3:04 p.m. Malik M. Taha, 27, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 2:02 p.m. Travis L. Webb, 44, Sullivan, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 11:22 a.m. Timothy L. Edwards, 62, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 9:55 a.m. Aryanna V. Munsey, 21, New Whiteland, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

City Police

Greencastle Police officers made one recent arrest.

• At 11:56 p.m. on Tuesday, Susan Smith, 64, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Stopped at the intersection of Durham and Washington streets, Smith was lodged at the Putnam County Jail and charged with operating while intoxicated. She registered .272-percent blood alcohol content on a certified blood draw at Putnam County Hospital.

Meanwhile, a father and son were issued citations for the same violation one minute apart by the city’s newest police officer.

At 2:07 p.m. on Tuesday, Ronald Smith II, 19, Nashville, Ind., was ticketed by Officer Jensen Clement.

Then at 2:08 p.m., Ronald Smith, 47, Indianapolis, was also ticketed by Clement.

Stopped on South Jackson Street at Veterans Memorial Highway, each man was cited for operating a motorcycle without an endorsement.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported nine incidents between Monday morning and Thursday morning:

• At 10:05 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:11 and determined the alarm was due to dust from construction. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:22 a.m.

• At 2:56 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 69 Kingswood Ct. for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:02 p.m. and determined the CO detector needed to be replaced after none was detected. GFD went back into service at 3:15 p.m.

• At 4:32 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Phoenix Closures for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:38 and determined the alarm was connected to a duct detector. No fire was located and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:50 p.m.

• At 8 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:04 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:08 p.m.

• At 11:03 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched for a fire in the roadway at 303 N. Vine St. Firefighters arrived at 11:05 and found that the fire was out. Police were contacted to investigate the fire while debris was removed. GFD went back into service at 11:25 p.m.

• At 4:24 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 109 S. Vine St. for a carbon monoxide investigation. Firefighters arrived at 4:30 and did not detect any CO. GFD went back into service at 5:03 p.m.

• At 11:34 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to assist the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department with a fire in an exterior stairwell at the Econo Lodge in Cloverdale. Firefighters arrived with GFD’s aerial truck at 11:53 and checked for extensions near the roof after Cloverdale personnel quickly tackled the fire. A box alarm was initially dropped and disregarded. GFD went back into service at 12:42 p.m.

• At 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Beta Theta Pi at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:44 and determined the alarm was due to dust from construction. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:50 p.m.

• At 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm in an apartment above Eli’s Books. Firefighters arrived at 11:09 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 11:20 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for four medical assists during this timeframe.
