County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 2:14 a.m. Kimberlee A. Voege, 47, Brazil, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Saturday

• At 11:34 p.m. Edwin I. Silva Parada, 22, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and on a local warrant.

• At 10:39 p.m. James L. Sherber, 57, Russellville, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, driving with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in the body, driving while intoxicated endangering a person and on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 2:09 p.m. Ryan J. Parrott, 42, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:42 p.m. Billy J. Cooper Jr., 26, Greencastle, was booked in on a pair of local warrants.

• At 2:21 a.m. Justin W. Lewis, 34, Rockville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 3:09 p.m. Anthony K. McDonald, 38, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 2:50 p.m. Christina M. Stark, 36, Poland, was housed at the jail for probation violation.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported eight incidents between Thursday morning and Sunday evening:

• At 6:18 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched for a vehicle fire at the Walmart Supercenter parking lot. Firefighters arrived at 6:28 and quickly extinguished a fire in the passenger compartment and then cleaned up debris. The cause of the fire was undetermined. GFD went back into service at 7:06 a.m.

• At 7:42 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident without injuries at the intersection of Washington and Arlington streets. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:47 and assessed patients before cleaning up debris. GFD went back into service at 8:05 p.m.

• At 2:04 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched for a tree in the roadway at 649 S. CR 300 West. Firefighters found the tree at 2:13 and removed it. GFD went back into service at 2:22 p.m.

• At 2:34 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:41 and determined the alarm was due to a dirty detector. The detector was cleaned and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:51 p.m.

GFD responded on two consecutive dispatches Saturday morning to Humbert Hall at DePauw:

- At 8:46 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:55 and determined the alarm was due to hair spray. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 9:03 a.m.

- At 10:12 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:18 and again determined that the alarm was due to hair spray. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:22 a.m.

• At 2:11 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm in an apartment above Eli’s Books. Firefighters arrived at 2:15 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:24 p.m.

• At 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:52 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 9:57 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for seven medical assists and had three disregards during this timeframe.
