Wednesday, June 12, 2024

CLOVERDALE — Endeavor Communications on Thursday announced the receipt of a $6,030,000 grant from the Next Level Connections broadband program.

The funding will facilitate the construction of 126 miles of fiber optic infrastructure, connecting approximately 1,093 locations across Putnam, Owen, Clay and Hendricks counties.

The initiative marks an advancement toward bridging the digital divide in these areas. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.

The Next Level Connections broadband grant program, spearheaded by Gov. Eric Holcomb, represents the nation’s largest broadband investment. The program’s goal is to close the technology gap and ensure all Hoosiers have access to reliable, high-speed internet. This round of funding continues efforts to enhance connectivity and unlock opportunities for education, health care and employment throughout Indiana.

“We are proud to be a part of a program that enables us to extend our services to underserved areas, significantly improving the quality of life and economic opportunities for local residents,” Endeavor Senior Vice President of Broadband Services Jay Watkins said. “Endeavor Communications remains steadfast in its commitment to bridging the digital divide and looks forward to contributing to Indiana’s brighter, better-connected future.”

Endeavor Communications was founded in 1950 as a telephone provider in rural Indiana. Today, it delivers voice and managed IT services to businesses nationwide, along with high-speed internet services to locations in Putnam, Owen, Hendricks, Morgan, Tipton, Hamilton, Parke and Clay counties.

  • How about the people from Buzzi south to the corner on 150 west. We still will not have a reliable high speed internet.

  • They missed 13 houses. That’s more than they picked up (7) to Putnamville.

  • When will mega-utility Frontier run fiber optic to their rural subscribers? My guess is never.

  • Would be great if endeavor could expand even more, even closer to home. There are homes along 231 near South Putnam that still have dial-up only. Time to give those companies the boot and give the territory to one that will improve the infrastructure.
