County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 4:05 a.m. James L. Ellis, 34, Coatesville, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 2:18 a.m. Devin D. Lonberger, 32, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 2:18 a.m. Jacob B. Payton, 20, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 3:26 p.m. Christina G. Merrill, 67, Anderson, was housed at the jail for conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Friday

• At 6:27 p.m. Tracy A. Freeman, 61, Poland, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 5:40 a.m. James E. Lowe, 45, Aurora, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:13 a.m. Teresa L. Lansing, 61, Poland, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 10:32 p.m. Samantha J. Gordon, 33, Quincy, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

City Police

Two recent summonses were issued by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 11:07 a.m. Sunday, Charles Ross, 48, Plainfield, was given a summons by Officer Alec Pettit.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Ross was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 10:29 p.m. Thursday, Dalton Kisner, 23, Bainbridge, was issued a summons by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped on Zinc Mill Road, Kisner was summoned into court on a charge of possession of marijuana.

• At 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Austin Carrell, 21, Plainfield, was ticketed by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped at Arlington Street and Tacoma Drive, Carrell was cited for having an expired license plate (March 14).

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported five incidents between last Wednesday evening and Monday morning:

• At 3:31 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:36 and found that work was being done on the alarm system when it was activated. As the system had already been reset, GFD went back into service at 3:38 p.m.

• At 10:39 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:46 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:58 p.m.

• At 2:32 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Maple Avenue for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 2:39 and did not locate a leak. GFD went back into service at 2:47 a.m.

• At 12:05 p.m. on Friday, GFD was requested by the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department to assist with a structure fire at 4200 State Rd. 42 in Owen County. Firefighters arrived at 12:25 and worked with overhaul and checked for extensions. GFD went back into service at 1:01 p.m.

• At 8:19 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 310 W. Liberty St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:26 and determined that there were issues with smoke detectors. The homeowner was advised to contact an electrician. GFD went back into service at 8:38 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 13 medical assists and had three disregards during this timeframe.
