Jo Ruth Cancilla

Jo Ruth Cancilla passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family and 19-year-old Max (her best friend that’s still living).

If you loved Mama, know she loved you.

Mama and Poppa started Nunzio’s Pizza House in Crawfordsville, then moved it to Greencastle in 1952; it was known as Nunzios’ Pizza Den in the 1980s. The same restaurant became Mama Nunz’s.

Preceding Mama in death was Poppa (Frank), her husband of 48 years; Marylou and Fib Rinehart; and her granddaughter, Micaela.

Survivors include her son, Nunzio Cancilla (Shawntiel); her daughter, Electa; a grandson, JJ Mace (Autumn); a granddaughter, Jantonia Mace (John Griel); Marideth and Trystien Boswell; Max Kuras; great-grandsons Jonathon Mace and Archer Griel; and great-granddaughters Skylar and Ellowen, who live in Carpinteria, Calif.

We will have a graveside service at 10 a.m. on July 10 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Afterwards, join us at The Inn at DePauw to reminisce and enjoy some snacks.
