Annual Celebrate 4 events planned Thursday at Big Walnut Sports Park

Presented by Friends of the Park, Greencastle Parks and Recreation and a number of local sponsors, the Celebrate 4 annual Fourth of July celebration is set for Thursday, July 4 at Big Walnut Park.

Ongoing construction as crews complete Phase II of the Robe-Ann Park renovation prompted the move of the July 4 celebration for 2024.

Regardless of location, Friends of the Park is planning a fun-filled day for families:

8 a.m.: Mike Rokicki Memorial 5K (registration begins 7 a.m.) and Civic League pancake breakfast ($7 per person)

9 a.m.: Annual Youth Firecracker Fun Run

2-10 p.m.: Food vendors open

5-8 p.m.: Dunk tank

5:15 p.m.: Declaration of Independent reading

6 p.m.: Cornhole tournament (registration begins 5 p.m.)

5:30-9:30 p.m.: Live entertainment

Dusk: Fireworks display

A rain date for the fireworks display is set for Saturday, July 6.
