County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 2:24 a.m. Lisa M. Grimes, 32, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 8:35 p.m. Colby F. Strasburger, 54, Russellville, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

• At 10:15 a.m. Kayla L. Godbey, 35, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for battery against a public safety officer, obstructing an emergency medical person, resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Saturday

• At 8:03 p.m. Gregory A. Boswell, 56, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

Thursday

• At 3:17 p.m. Jeremiah D. Parrish, 35, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 1:24 p.m. Thursday, Charles D. Ross, 48, Plainfield, was arrested by Officer Jensen Clement.

Taken into custody at the Walmart Supercenter, Ross was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a local warrant with an original charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported 11 responses between Thursday morning and Monday morning:

• At 12:01 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Oliver House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:05 and determined the alarm was activated due to maintenance. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:09 a.m.

GFD covered the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department’s station on two requests on Friday:

— At 5:49 a.m., GFD was dispatched as Cloverdale personnel responded to a motor vehicle incident on Interstate 70. Firefighters arrived at 6:03 a.m. and went back into service at 7:59 a.m.

— At 10:26 a.m., GFD was dispatched again as Cloverdale personnel responded to a fatal motor vehicle incident on the interstate. Firefighters arrived at 11:15 and went back into service at 12:43 p.m.

• At 10:01 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Oliver House for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:05 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:11 p.m.

• At 11:14 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 1036 Canterbury Dr. Firefighters arrived at 11:22 as a cooking fire was already out. After extensions were checked, the gas to the stove was secured and the residence was ventilated. The apartment manager was notified, while one patient was evaluated and transported. GFD went back into service at 12:07 p.m.

• At 1:17 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 51 Woodhaven Dr. for a smell of smoke inside the residence. Firefighters arrived at 1:20 and did not locate any fire. GFD went back into service at 1:36 p.m.

• At 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Mason Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:18 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 5:26 p.m.

• At 6:41 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 1050 Avenue B for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 6:48 and did not locate a leak after monitoring the residence. GFD went back into service at 7:03 p.m.

• At 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 1221 E. CR 25 South for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 10:51 and did not find a leak after monitoring the residence. GFD went back into service at 11:06 p.m.

• At 3:17 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Eli’s Books for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:24 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:47 p.m.

• At 9:09 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with injuries at 1949 E. Range Line Rd. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:18 and assisted with patient care and cleared debris. GFD went back into service at 9:27 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 16 medical assists and had five disregards during this timeframe.
