County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Saturday

• At 8:20 p.m. Charles D. Ross, 48, Plainfield, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 5:38 p.m. Shane A. Key, 32, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person, driving with an ACE of .08 or greater and possession of a legend drug.

• At 3:36 p.m. William I. Withrow, 52, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and on a pair of local warrants.

Friday

• At 3:10 a.m. Ronda L. Cooksey, 57, Jasonville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:07 a.m. Aaron A. Lowe, 35, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 8:34 p.m. Scott A. Davis, 52, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person and reckless driving.

• At 5:26 a.m. Donald L. Dixie, 44, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 3:54 p.m. Tyler J. Garner, 26, Martinsville, Ill, was lodged at the jail on a Pulaski County warrant.

City Police

Two recent summonses were issued by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 11:04 p.m. Thursday, Cameron Pingleton, 18, Greencastle, was issued a summons by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped on Ridgeland Road, Pingleton was given a summons into court for operating without ever having obtained a license.

• At 5:21 a.m. July 1, Jeremiah Steen, 40, Greenwood, was issued a summons by Officer Herd.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Steen was given a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

One recent speeding citation was issued by city officers:

• At 1:17 p.m. Thursday, James English, 32, Danville, was cited by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, English was ticketed for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported five incidents between Thursday morning and Sunday evening:

• At 2:12 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched for a downed tree at the intersection of county roads 175 West and 25 South. Firefighters found a branch and debris at 2:24 and removed it as Parke County REMC also came. GFD went back into service at 2:30 a.m.

• At 6:11 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 130 W. Berry St. for an illegal burn. Firefighters arrived at 6:16 and advised the homeowner of the city burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 6:33 p.m.

• At 9:46 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 5 Wood St. for a smoke investigation. Firefighters arrived at 9:54 and found a fire in a burn pit. The fire was approved, and GFD went back into service at 10:02 p.m.

• At 5:22 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to the pool at Robe-Ann Park for a chemical leak. Firefighters arrived at 5:28 and found a leak, after which the chemical was neutralized. GFD went back into service at 7:22 p.m.

• At 9:18 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was called to Putnam County Hospital to assist with removing handcuffs. Firefighters arrived at 9:24 and did so, as a key broke off inside the device. GFD went back into service at 10:17 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 10 medical assists during this timeframe.
