Brazil Concert Band to host Christmas in July

BRAZIL — The Brazil Concert Band with Matthew Huber conducting will present “Christmas in July!” on Sunday, July 21 in Forest Park, rain or shine and even snow.

The Christmas spectacular will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the hand bell duet of percussionists Curt Harris and Erin Gerecke.

At 8 p.m., the entire band will perform “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” arranged by Paul Yoder, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Meredith Willson and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.”

Several Christmas favorites arranged for band by G. E. Holmes will include “The First Noel,” “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” “O Come, Little Children,” “Away In a Manger” and “Joy to the World.”

“Silver Bells” arranged by Paul Yoder, “Symphonic Highlights from Frozen” arranged by Stephen Bulla, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” arranged by Paul Yoder and “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” by Leon Jessel are also scheduled.

Holmes’ arrangements of “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen,” “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls,” “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,” “Oh, Faithful Pine,” “O Holy Night” and “O sanctissima” will all set the mood for the Christmas season later this year.
