As Parkfest enters the homestretch of the 2024 season with just two shows left, this week will feature Haley McGinnis and Bobbie Lancaster.

Presented by the Greencastle Civic League and Greencastle Parks & Recreation, the show is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Robe-Ann Park bandshell.

Haley McGinnis has been in the Greencastle Music scene for about the last year-and-a-half to two years between local open mics and singing with local musicians on Sunday mornings at Gobin United Methodist Church.

She was raised in a household that was filled with music of all kinds, from gospel quartets to Carole King and beyond. It instilled in her a deep passionate love for music.

Now she sings covers across all genres. She particularly loves putting her own spin on well known songs with her vocals and her baritone ukulele.

Singer-songwriter Bobbie Lancaster has been a part of the Greencastle Community for more than a decade now after stepping away from a lively and diverse music career.

She’s played big stages like the Kerrville Folk Festival, was selected for the cast of Pure Prine, a stage adaptation of John Prine’s music that got rave reviews from the Chicago Theater critics, spent many years in ministry and art therapy settings and has written and produced nine solo albums (find her on Spotify, iTunes ... all the places).

She has also traveled internationally as an advocate in the fair trade movement — supporting the work of living wage job creation and equal rights for women and girls worldwide.

Her music over the past 25 years clearly tells the story of a life full of transparency with an abundance of twists and turns.

“I’ve kind of grown out of writing love songs,” Lancaster said. “These days the songs coming through are deeper. Common threads of divinity, hope, oneness and the power of love.”

When she’s not singing or preparing teenagers to launch, you can find Bobbie working with the team at Amanda Procenti State Farm.

Joining her for this performance are her friends Rick Provine on percussion, Steve Michael on guitar, Veronica Pejril on piano, Steve Snyder on organ, Bill Hamm on bass and Haley McGinnis on backing vocals.

Parkfest is presented by the Greencastle Civic League and the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department. Sound Sponsor for the 2024 season of Parkfest is Prime Real Estate, with Walmart as Platinum Sponsor and Furr Insurance Agency as Gold Sponsor.

Food will be available for purchase from The Whisk and Kona Ice.

The final Parkfest show of the season is set for Tuesday, July 30 and features Chris Wurster and Katz & Jammers.
