County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 1:15 a.m. Mark A. Hayden, 64, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person.

Sunday

• At 4:04 p.m. Nicole M. Wall, 33, Freedom, was taken into custody on a purge bond.

• At 1:37 a.m. Taylor S. Helton, 30, Carbon, was housed at the jail on three local warrants.

Friday

• At 3 p.m. Loren T. Howe, 30, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 8:54 a.m. Chris A. Barker, 56, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

• At 3:57 a.m. Ethan M. Cox, 20, Brazil, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 5:41 p.m. Daniel E. Smyser, 41, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for probation violation.

• At 10:59 a.m. Dustin A. Weddle, 40, Poland, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 9:30 a.m. Robert E. Stinson, 30, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

City Fire

Greencastle firefighters responded to five dispatches between Thursday and Monday.

• At 2:12 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center on West Hanna Street. Arriving at 2:17 p.m., crews determined a tennis ball had hit a pull station. The alarm was reset, and they were back in service by 2:23 p.m.

• At 6:06 a.m. on Friday, crews responded to an alarm at Vernon Jordan Hall, 220 E. Olive St. Arriving at 6:12 a.m., they were unable to determine a cause, but reset the system and returned to service at 6:22 a.m.

• At 8:42 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters were called to remove a tree in the road at the intersection of Ravenwood Drive and Albin Pond Road. They removed the obstruction and returned to service at 8:56 p.m.

• At 7:55 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of County Road 300 South and County Road 150 West. Arriving at 8:08, firefighters assisted with removing patients from the vehicles and then with medical care. They returned to service at 8:33 p.m.

• At 9:12 a.m. on Thursday, crews were dispatched for cleanup following an accident at South Street and Woodhaven Drive. After cleaning up debris and fluids, the firefighters returned to service at 10:06 a.m.

GFD also assisted on six medical calls.
