James Hugo Mann

James Hugo Mann, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Asbury Towers.

James was born in Greencastle, on March 28, 1942, the son of Emil and Edith (Costa) Mann. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mr. Mann worked for many years as and optical electrical mechanical engineer for IBM. He started work with them at the age of 17. IBM sent him to school to be an engineer.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Mann; two sons, Ernie Mann of Oklahoma, and David Mann of Greencastle; sister Marilyn Martin of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Melissa Mann, Jessica Jones (Jeremmy) and James David Mann; two great-grandchildren, Brayden LeFlore and Jennifer Mann; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James H. Mann Jr.; a daughter, Laura Susan Mann; and two sisters, Myrtle Cockrell and Emily (Cathcart) Mann.

At his request there will be no services or visitation. A cremation will take place at a later date.
