Michael Ray Steele

Michael Ray Steele, 72, of Fillmore, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024 at home with his family by his side.

Michael was born Aug. 23, 1951 to Edgar N. and Virginia “Gail” Steele in Greencastle.

Michael was a 1969 graduate of Bainbridge High School. He was a member of the American Legion in Greencastle. He worked for 22 years at Hi-Tech in Crawfordsville as a foreman.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Edgar “Ed” N. Steele Jr, Gary Allen Steele and Bryan S. Steele on July 1,2024.

Michael is survived by his wife, Rhonda Steele; three children, Deanna Bumgardner (Matt), Jon Steele and Cheryl Blue (Eric); sister Donna F. Williams (Jerry); grandchildren Abigail Steele, Brice Steele, Kenzie Bumgardner, Jacie Bumgardner, Brayden Baxter, Justin Baxter, Brayden Blue and Megan Blue; great-grandchildren Mila Baxter and Mason Baxter; his furbaby, Micky; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation service will be Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. with an hour visitation prior to service and with military honors at the graveside at Clinton Falls Cemetery to follow.
