Sheriff’s office again offers Church Safety Training Conference

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will host a second-annual Church Safety Training Conference on Saturday, Aug. 24 in Greencastle.

General safety concerns of church facilities and armed response by their church supported members continues to increase in recent years. With this in mind, it is the position of Sheriff Jerrod Baugh that training in the proper use of firearms and the safety concerns that come with their use is just as important. Sheriff’s deputies and staff will be offering this training at no cost.

Attendees who trained on the range last year are invited back for refresher training and new skills in the morning session. New participants are required to attend a morning session on best practices and trauma care training before attending range training in the afternoon.

Each class size is limited to three or four members from each church. To register for the class, have one representative from each church reach out with participant information to request.deputy@co.putnam.in.us.
