E. Jane Green

E. Jane (Milligan) Green, 96, passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.

She was born, Jan. 14, 1928 in Bowling Green, the only child of Archie E. and Wanetta (White) Milligan.

Jane began school in Bowling Green but graduated from Pontiac High School in Pontiac, Mich. It was also in Pontiac that she was introduced to her future husband Jim by his sister, who was her schoolmate and friend. Jim and Jane went on to have 51 years of marriage and three children before his passing in 1997.

Jane was a member of First Baptist Church of Greencastle, the Order of Eastern Star since 1951, active in the Merry Jills Home Economics Club, was a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer for Reach for Recovery and happy to be a 52-year cancer survivor. She enjoyed bowling and golf, knitting, oil painting, a variety of crafts through the years. She lovingly collected more than 300 teddy bears.

Jane loved traveling and went to almost every state, including Alaska and Hawaii, took 17 cruises and numerous bus tours, went to Europe, Canada and Mexico. She enjoyed shopping wherever she went.

Beginning at age 16 she enjoyed several employment opportunities, including General Motors, IBM, Mallory, DePauw University and some others.

Jane is survived by two children, Jana (Jim) Harris and Jodi (Dan) Stockton; seven grandchildren, Tara Gould, Scott (Letha) Harris, Matthew Harris, James J. Harris, Brandi (Neil) Johnson, Alixandra (Joel) Welch and Katie (Noah) Hayden; and eight great-grandchildren, Thomas and Amelia Harris, Hailey, Hillary, Hayden and Holden Johnson, William and Evelyn Welch. Included as remaining family is Melissa (Lady) Green Nowling, widow of her son James.

She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Jim Green, son James Green and granddaughter Jennifer Green.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 19 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home in Greencastle from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Funeral Service will then commence at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jane may be donated to American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church of Greencastle.
