Jerald Thomas Monds

Jerald Thomas Monds, 86, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2024.

Jerald was born Jan. 12, 1938 to George and Clara Monds in Lynch, Ky. He attended Somerset High School, where he competed in boxing, basketball and football. Oh, the stories he could tell! He graduated in 1957.

After graduation, Jerald came to Indiana to find a good job. He found one all right at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, where he worked for 39 years and then retired.

In 1958, Jerald met Alice Frances Walden, and they got married June 2, 1958. Together they had four children, Kim (Tony Arnold), Jody (Greg Crum), David (Marilyn) and Charlie (Karen). They had eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.

Jerald was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey books. He read every book in his extensive collection at least twice. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms, bow hunting for deer, karaoke singing and studying the Word of God. Jerald accepted the Lord into his life in 1978 and became a licensed preacher shortly thereafter. He is with his Savior today.

Services will be held at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale on Friday, Aug. 23. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the funeral starting at 1 p.m. Graveside service immediately following at the Cloverdale Cemetery.
