Alicia L. Linton

Alicia L. Linton, 64, Greencastle, passed away on Aug. 17, 2024.

She was born on Nov. 27, 1959 to Ray and Ila Hammond (McPherson). Alicia graduated from Greencastle High School in 1978.

She began working for the Greencastle Police Department in 1984 and retired from there in 2022 after 38 years.

Alicia married Stephen Linton in 1985. They have one son, Dylan Linton.

Alicia loved life, her family, friends, cards and games, but most of all, God. Even throughout her 18-month battle with brain cancer, Alicia stayed faithful, positive and loved to make others smile.

Alicia was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. She had also been a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ila “Bunny” Hammon, and two brothers, William Hammond and Mickey Hammond.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Linton, son Dylan Linton, brother Rex Hammond, sister Tami Hammond, aunts Sandy Churchman and Wanda (Earl) Collier; and many half siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Per Alicia’s request, there will be private, family graveside services with a celebration of life to be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the American Legion Post 58 Women’s Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society.
