Greencastle American Legion Post 58 will honor the memory of a former post commander with an upcoming charity ride.

The second-annual Rodney Gaffney Charity Ride is set for Saturday, Aug. 31, to begin and end at the Legion post at 1401 Indianapolis Rd.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Rod Gaffney spent several years at the commander of Post 58, an office he held at the time of his death on Aug. 28, 2022.

Signups for the ride begin at 9:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 11 a.m.

Organizers anticipate a return to the post by between 3 and 4 p.m.

The ride is open not just to motorcycles, but also Jeeps, cars and trucks — anyone who wants to support the community, not just Legion members.

Cost is $20 for a single rider and $30 for a couple.

After the ride, there will be music, food and drinks at the Legion.
