County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 6:07 p.m. Paul A. Osborn, 56, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated-refusal.

• At 5 p.m. Erik J. VanHalen, 54, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 10:25 a.m. Sunday, Gregory R. Cripe, 38, Greencastle, was arrested by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Taken into custody at a Bloomington Street residence, Cripe was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor, possession of marijuana, invasion of privacy and a Marion County warrant for probation violation.

One recent traffic citation was issued by city officers:

• At 12:38 p.m. Friday, Kibrom Teklu, 56, Columbus, Ohio, was ticketed by Sgt. Eastham.

Stopped at East Walnut and South Locust streets, Teklu was cited for disregarding a traffic control device.

City Fire

Greencastle firefighters responded to five recent dispatches.

• At 3:04 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 406 S. Indiana St. They arrived to find the alarm had already been reset by DePauw University police, returning to service at 3:12 a.m.

• At 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, crews were called to an alarm at 409 S. Jackson St. Upon investigation, they determined it was activated due to smoking. They reset the alarm and returned to service at 11:22 p.m.

• At 10:59 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to an alarm at 415 Anderson St. They determined it was due to smoking, resetting the alarm and returning to service at 11:16 p.m.

• At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to an alarm at 1062 Hospital Dr. They arrived to find it had been reset. According to staff members, it had been a pull station activation. Firefighters returned to service at 5:43 p.m.

• At 10:43 a.m. on Saturday, crews were called to an elevator alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. They arrived to discover that no one was in the elevator and it was functioning properly. Crews returned to service at 11:01 a.m.

Firefighters also responded to 10 medical calls.
