Driver dies after head-on collision with dump truck on SR 75

COATESVILLE — An unidentified motorist died Thursday morning after the SUV he was driving crossed over the centerline and collided with a dump truck.

At 10:08 a.m., Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on State Road 75 near the intersection of County Road 600 South just south of Coatesville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Kia SUV was traveling southbound on SR 75 when, for a yet undetermined reason, it crossed into the northbound lane and was struck head on by a dump truck that was northbound.

The driver and sole occupant of the Kia SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld at this time pending appropriate notifications.

The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

As of 2 p.m., SR 75 remained closed between County Road 600 South and 700 South as police complete their investigation and crews clean up debris and gravel released by the truck during the collision.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office recommends seeking alternate routes of travel until the on-scene investigation is complete and the roadway is re-opened.
