Brenda Sue Spurr Blane

Brenda Sue Spurr Blane, 66, of Rockville, passed away Monday, Sept. 1 2024, at her residence.

Born November 12, 1957, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Roy Rumley and Wilma Myers Rumley.

She married Melvin E. Spurr on Dec. 23, 1977 in Rockville. He passed away Feb. 16, 1996. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Bob Blane of Rockville.

Other survivors include a son, Derek Spurr (Tracey); two stepsons, Steve Blane (Miriam) and Lee Blane; three brothers, Bill, David and Mike Rumley; and two sisters, Jody Gipson, and Peggy King. Also surviving are a grandson, Hunter Spurr; four granddaughters, Danika Spurr, Mary Pasterz, Britteny Cox and Natasha Frazee; and three great-grandsons, Jaxon, Treyson and Vinnie.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin; daughter Danielle Spurr; stepdaughter Patricia D’Agostino; three brothers, Jerry, Bobby and Timothy Rumley; and sister Phyllis Hodge.

Brenda graduated from Greencastle High School in 1966 and worked as an LPN at Clinton Gardens. She was a member of AMVETS Post #61 Ladies Auxiliary, in Rockville.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 East High Street, Rockville. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, east of Marshall.
