Local barber Jake Trexler recently opened Jake’s Barber Co. in downtown Greencastle.

Celebrating with a grand opening and ribbon cutting on the evening of Aug. 19, the shop officially opened its doors that morning, with Trexler as well as barber Teddy Waggoner plying their trade.

The shop is located in a suite on the first floor at 16 S. Jackson St., also home to The Bodega as well as The Whisk. Jake’s is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

Formerly a pastor at Greencastle Christian Church, Trexler has spent the last two years barbering at other local shops.

Now with his own space, Trexler is looking forward to offering a full range of services he learned at barber school, which happens to be where he met Waggoner.

“Our goal in opening Jake’s Barber Co. is to provide excellent customer service with detailed haircuts. We offer haircuts, beard trims and hot towel shaves,” Trexler said. “We have been glad to hear so much positivity in regard to our opening. We are excited to be here and to serve the people of Greencastle.”

Jake and wife Aly, along with Waggoner and a crowd of other family, friends and supporter, formally cut the ribbon on the new space as new members of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.

$45 for a cut and beard trim? Best of luck.

    Congratulations, Jake!

Mayor Humdinger, give him a shot. He's one of the best around and worth every penny.

Hair is a funny thing. Some people really care and are really particular. Others just want it shorter and don't really care what it looks like. For those who care they love Jakes attention to detail!
