Izzy Camara was the hero of the night for Greencastle as the hosts won on penalties over Northview in WIC girls’ soccer action after the Knights equalized in the final 30 seconds of regulation Thursday evening.

The Tiger Cubs held a 1-0 lead for much of the match when Ali Dobbs was brought down in the box and converted the penalty 10 minutes into the match.

A fast and physical battle for most of the evening, play was bogged down in midfield for much of the first half.

Greencastle had several chances to put pressure on Ava Harper in the Northview goal but defenders Rekelle Terrell and Lauren Tilley were on hand to snuff out most of the attacks.

Knight attacks were few and far between until the final five minutes and it was from a corner that the visitors equalized.

Hannah Modglin sent in a short corner that Hannah Ogborn turned toward goal with the deflection falling to Tilley, her shot hitting the inside of Camara’s right-hand post and going in with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Penalties were required to separate the teams with Tilley converting the first and Harper saving from Penny Cummings.

Camara saved Modglin’s effort and pushed Addison Modglin’s attempt off her left-hand post and away while Dobbs and Emily Hunsinger converted for a 2-1 advantage.

Ogborn shot just over the hands of Camara while Jacey Call slotted home to put the pressure on Terrell, who shot low to Camara’s left but the junior got down well to parry the shot away and seal the win for the Tiger Cubs, who moved to 2-0 in WIC play while the Knights dropped to 1-1.
