PLAINFIELD — A Fillmore man was taken into custody on Monday in regard to the fatal crash that occurred on Aug. 30 in Plainfield.

After more than two weeks at large, Bryan Goodmon, 38, Plainfield, was detained Monday evening by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department crime task force.

According to the Avon Police Department, who are investigating the original incident on behalf of police in Plainfield, on Aug. 30 Goodmon was approached by a Plainfield police officer at the Long John Silver’s on Clarks Creek Rd. and refused to comply with the officer.

Goodmon, who was still in his vehicle, then allegedly fled the scene, nearly striking the officer. He then led officers on a pursuit that ultimately ended in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Smith Road.

Goodmon drove through the intersection, however a 2009 Ford Fusion drove into the intersection, and the officer in pursuit struck the vehicle.

Both occupants of the Ford, Barbara and Bennie Williams died at the scene of the crash.

The Plainfield officer was placed on administrative leave, as is standard practice.

Goodmon is currently being held at the Hendricks County Jail with no bond with multiple felonies that include resisting law enforcement-causing death.

  • May we all be judged fairly by a jury of our peers, hopefully one without Queen53 on it.

  • while Goodmon should indeed be facing charges, shouldn't the Plainfield officer also bear some responsibility ?
