‘North Putnam’ selected to Heartland Film Festival

Thursday, September 19, 2024

When filmmakers, critics and fans from around the world converge on Indianapolis next month for the 33rd Heartland Film Festival, one of the stories they’ll have the chance to see is of a Putnam County community.

Directed by award-winning documentarian Joel Fendelman, “North Putnam” depicts a year in the life of a rural Indiana school district and the community it serves. Crafted with empathy, the film aims to spark action-oriented conversations about the interdependence between public schools and community development.

Fendelman teamed with local residents to make the sound, including producer Beth Benedix and producer/head of sound and music Anthony Mullis, to make the film.

There will be two screenings of “North Putnam” during the festival:

• Friday, Oct. 18, 7:45 p.m., Glendale’s Landmark Theatre, Indianapolis

• Sunday, Oct. 20, 4:45 p.m., Emagine Theaters, Noblesville

Tickets are available to watch virtually or in person at www.HeartlandFilmFestival.org.
