Gerald L. Edwards

Gerald L. Edwards passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 21, 2024 at the age of 86.

Gerald was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle High School. He went on to become a mechanic for the Indiana State Police, retiring after 28 years of service.

Gerald and his wife Dorothy were extremely involved in the Putnam County 4-H program with Gerald serving several terms as the Fair Board president. In his later years Gerald loved to tinker in his shop, help people fix things, work in the garden and spend time with his dog, Preacher.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his two daughters, Janella Whittaker (Dean) and Carla Padgett (Landon).

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Cress) Edwards; grandchildren Ryan Sears (Emily), Dessa Frank (Rob) and Ben Worthington (Cassy); his great-grandchildren, Ian Frank, Elijah Frank and Audrey Sears; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at Sherwood Christian Church in Greencastle, where Gerald was a longtime member. Bousley Funeral Home has been entrusted with Gerald’s care.
