Greencastle Scouting receives check from 100-Plus Men Who Care

At their second meeting of 2024, the 100-Plus Men Who Care of Putnam County donated a check of $10,700 to Greencastle Scouting.

Greencastle Scouting oversees Troop 999, Cub Scout Troop 99 and Boy Scout Troop 99. Children range from Kindergarten all the way to age 17. The donation was made as scout fees are on the rise it was becoming more difficult for the troops to maintain operations.

With this donation, Greencastle Scouting will now be able to upgrade outdated equipment and increase its ability to provide financial assistance to local scouts.

Presentations were also made for the Greencastle Civic League Parkfest program and the Putnam County Humane Society. Each will receive at donation of $250.

Since its inception in 2015, 100 Plus Men Who Care has awarded more than $450,000 to 28 different charities and non-profit organizations.

Chairman Mike Harmless said the group in addition to quarterly grants has also created an Endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation that will provide more than $5,000 a year for the PCCF to utilize in their community grant making process.
