CHS grad Monnett wins cross country honor for Tigers

A Cloverdale High School graduate who stayed close to home for her college experience, Lily Monnett has enjoyed a decorated cross country career at DePauw University, most recently earning NCAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors following a second-place finish out of 221 runners at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.

DePauw senior Lily Monnett (Cloverdale/ Cloverdale) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance last Saturday at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.

Monnett finished second out of 221 runners, running the 6k course in 22:02.50, leading the Tigers to its second first-place finish this season. Monnett came 14 seconds short of a first-place finish behind Deyanne Colon Maldonado of Aurora (Ill).

The Tigers’ next contest is Friday, October 4, in Terre Haute, Ind., where they will compete in the Division III Pre-Nationals hosted by Rose-Hulman. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
