While residents were being told to stay home and stay safe in the high winds that came through Friday night, Putnam County deputies and other law enforcement officials were out in worst of the weather.

One of them narrowly avoided a much worse situation while serving the public.

Deputy Austin Query had responded to an accident on U.S. 40. He was out of his car investigating a crash involving a car into a tree when another tree came down — directly onto his sheriff’s office SUV.

While Query had no injuries to report, the vehicle sustained heavy damage. It’s a situation the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office classified as “too close for comfort.”

“Blessed beyond belief that it’s only a vehicle,” PCSO noted in a social media post.
