County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 3:07 a.m. Donald Roberts II, 41, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 1:48 a.m. Cassidy Simpson, 24, Danville, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 1:50 a.m. Cayla Summit, 41, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated and failure to return to the scene of an accident.

Friday

• At 3:17 p.m. Amari Bryant, 25, Jonesboro, Ga., was taken into custody for dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

• At 2:55 p.m. Melissa Kemp-Smith, 38, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for probation violation.

• At 11:08 a.m. Angela Carter, 51, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 5:34 a.m. Charles Branham, 28, no city listed, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:17 a.m. Patience Jones, 27, Camby, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:08 p.m. Raymond Isbell, 42, Fillmore, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 1:34 a.m. Sunday, Wayne Westgate, 48, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Taken into custody at a Tacoma Drive residence and lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Westgate was arrested on a pair of Putnam County warrants for nonsupport of a dependent and contempt of court/failure to appear.

• At 12:40 a.m. Sunday, David Maldonado, 42, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Taken into custody at Warren Drive and Indianapolis Road, Maldonado was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-refusal and possession of marijuana.

Maldonado was also cited for having an expired license plate (July 21).

One additional citation was issued by city officers:

• At 1:49 p.m. Thursday, Clayton Zoellner, 22, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped at Arlington Street and Highwood Avenue, Zoellner for cited for failure to register a vehicle.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to several recent dispatches.

• At 8:39 p.m. on Thursday, GFD assisted the Reelsville Fire with a structure fire at 3031 W. CR 450 S. Upon arrival they discovered the fire was in a garage in the rear of the building. Crews extinguished their fire and completed overhaul. Once the fire was determined out, they returned to service at 10:20 p.m.

• At 1:41 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to an electrical hazard at 501 W. Locust St. Crews were called to an arcing power line. They arrived and had dispatch contact Duke Energy. They returned to service at 1:45 p.m.

• At 2:32 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2200 E. State Rd. 240. Upon arrival crews found they were servicing the fire pumps which activated the alarm system. They returned to service at 2:46 p.m.

• At 6:04 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at the intersection of S. CR 125 W. and W. CR. 25 S. The crew removed a tree from the roadway and returned to service at 6:15 p.m.

• At 6:11 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 507 S. Locust St. Upon investigation, crews discovered that the alarm system was activated due to a power loss. Crews were unable to reset the system and returned to service at 6:25 p.m.

• At 7 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at the intersection of E. CR 25 S. and S. CR. 100 E. The crews removed a tree from the roadway and returned to service at 7:18 p.m.

• At 7:34 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 500 N. U.S. 231. Crews removed a tree from the roadway and returned to service at 7:45 p.m.

• At 7:40 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 907 S. Jackson St. The crews removed a tree from the roadway and returned to service at 7:50 p.m.

• At 7:41 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at the intersection of Arlington Street and Tacoma Drive. The crews removed a tree from the roadway and returned to service at 8:03 p.m.

• At 7:50 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 1601 E. C.R. 25 S. Upon arrival, crews found power lines in a tree. They had dispatch contact Duke Energy. They secured the area and returned to service at 8:16 p.m.

• At 8:09 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 612 Apple St. Upon arrival crews found the tree in the power lines, contacted dispatch and returned to service at 9:50 p.m.

• At 8:11 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. Upon investigation, crews determined the alarm system was activated due to cooking. Crews reset the alarm and returned to service at 8:18 p.m.

• At 8:14 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a tree onto a house at 1034 Avenue C. Upon arrival crews found a tree fell into a duplex’s roof. Crews secured the area and returned to service at 9:09 p.m.

• At 8:29 on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 624 E. Walnut St. Upon arrival, crews found a tree in the power lines and had dispatch contact Duke Energy. They returned to service at 8:40 p.m.

• At 8:39 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at the intersection of N. C.R. 175 E. and E. C.R. 175 N. Crews arrived at a tree in the roadway and determined they couldn’t remove the tree due to its size. They had dispatch contact the county highway department to remove the tree and returned to service at 9:21 p.m.

• At 9:08 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 215 S. C.R. 300 W. Crews arrived to a tree in the power lines and on a house. The power to the home was secured and the homeowner was advised to contact the power company. Crews returned to service at 9:28 p.m.

• At 9:49 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a transformer fire at 47 Jackson Blvd. Crews arrived on scene and found a blown fuse on the pole. They had dispatch contact Duke Energy and returned to service at 9:56 p.m.

• At 12:13 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a downed tree at 1016 E. C.R. 25 S. Upon arrival, crews determined that the tree contained power lines and had dispatch contact Duke Energy. They returned to service at 12:34 a.m.

• At 3:36 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 413 S. Locust St. Upon investigation, crews determined that the alarm system was activated due to cooking. Crews reset the alarm and returned to service at 3:45 a.m.

At 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to downed power lines at 1101 Avenue D. Crews determined that the one was a service line to a home and requested Duke Energy arrive at the scene and stood by until arrival. Once Duke arrived, the scene was turned over to them and the crews returned to service at 2:58 p.m.

• At 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. Upon investigation, it was determined that the alarm system was activated to cooking. Crews reset the alarm and returned to service at 5:32 a.m.

• At 7:59 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 18 W. Hanna St. Upon investigation, it was determined that system was activated due to cooking. Crews reset the alarm and returned to service at 8:07 p.m.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 626 E. Seminary St. Upon investigation, crews found smoke in the basement of the building. Crews determined that there was no fire and the smoke was due to a malfunctioning dryer. The dryer was unplugged and the alarm reset and the crews returned to service at 10:30 p.m.
